Panel 1: Smart Energy Community Approaches
Drawing upon community dynamics and emphasizing a sense of place were two of the seven cross-cutting success factors for an active customer engagement identified within S3C. In this panel, the importance and opportunities of community approaches in the area of smart energy are discussed. Representatives from the S3C Family of Projects showcase best practice examples as well as their collaboration with the S3C project to optimize the engagement of their consumers.
Why can previously passive users become active when they are included in a community approach? How can these community dynamics be activated? What are the short term and long term effects? How are community driven incentives different from traditional monetary incentives?

Panel 2: Smart Energy Research beyond S3C
In this panel, the audience will choose two to three of the nine key challenges identified within the S3C project for further research on customer engagement in the area of smart grids. Together with representatives from the S3C Advisory Board and further experts, we will take a look at the findings of S3C regarding the chosen key challenges and discuss what implications result from those findings for future research and practice.
What has been achieved in consumer research for future energy systems so far? Which are the remaining or new challenges that still have to be addressed in research and practice? What can be taken over from the results of S3C? Where do we have to go further?

Panel 3: Smart Energy Products & Services
In the third panel, you will learn about the first businesses centering around engaging consumers for energy behaviour changes and the companies making use of their business models, since we’ll invite suppliers as well as representatives from the potential demand side of Smart Energy products. Together, they will highlight the drivers and barriers to the market and discuss the factors influencing the success of the new business cases.
Can you build a business case around engaging and empowering people? Which role do community dynamics play in field, especially with regards to gamification approaches? What is key to developing a sound "human centric” business case in the energy field?
